Gaborone: The Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) celebrated the Olympic Day in the village of Letlhakane in the North Western Botswana in collaboration with the Boteti Sub-District. The day was celebrated on 29th August, 2015 as the 23rd June, clashed with another major activity in the Botswana sporting Calender.
The Day was graced by the young and elderly and the village leadership. The day activities included the 10km race, aerobics, cycling, ladies football and scouts display.
The Olympic Day message was read by the 2nd Vice President of the BNOC Board, Mr. Letsholo Letsholo.
The Guest Speaker was the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr. Kgopotso Ramoroka. He encouraged participants to promote the benefits of physical exercise to improve their quality of life; discover new sports; while at the same time embracing the Olympic values.
Ramoroka said, Olympism is a philosophy of life which encourages a balance for the body, will and mind.
